歴史的瞬間→２００２年６月９日（日）！
１）日本が歴史的初勝利 １―０でロシア破る 決勝Ｔへ前進; (22:35)

サッカーＷ杯で、日本はロシアを１―０で破り、Ｗ杯で悲願の初勝利を挙げた。日本は後半６分にＭＦ稲本のシュートで先制し、逃げ切った。日本は勝ち点を４に伸ばし、決勝トーナメント進出に向け大きく前進した。
Ｈ組は、第２試合目を終えた日本が勝ち点４で一歩抜け出した。ロシアが勝ち点３。ベルギー（勝ち点１）とチュニジア（同０）は１０日に２試合目がある。
日本の決勝点は後半６分。左サイドを上がった中田浩がグラウンダーの速いクロスボールを出し、柳沢がダイレクトで落としたところを、稲本がワントラップで受け、右足でゴール右に決めた。稲本は今大会２得点目。
日本はその後も攻め続けた。ロシアのプレスが徐々に弱くなった。後半２５分には、中田英が正面から豪快なミドルシュートを放ったが、惜しくもクロスバーにはじかれた。
前半は中盤での球の奪い合いから、攻守の切り替えのはやい展開が続いた。日本は３０分すぎから、リズムに乗った攻撃の形を何度かつくった。前半２７分、左サイドを突破した中田浩のセンタリングを相手ＧＫがはじき、こぼれ球を中田英が正面からシュートしたが、惜しくもクロスバーの上を越えた。

２）INAMOTO THE HERO AGAIN；Japan scores historic win over Russia

YOKOHAMA -- After collecting its first-ever World Cup finals point five
days ago, Japan reached another milestone on Sunday night when the Boys
in Blue beat Russia 1-0 at International Stadium Yokohama.
Arsenal and man-of-the-match Junichi Inamoto struck five minutes after
the break for Japan's winning goal.
With the victory Japan improved its point total to four with one match
remaining against Tunisia on June 14 in Osaka. Russia stands second
with three points and the edge in goal differential to stay behind Japan,
followed by Belgium (3 points) and Tunisia (0). Belgium and Tunisia
will play on Monday in Oita.
"This is a very important moment for the nation and Japanese football,"
a jubilant Japan manager Philippe Troussier said. "It was a brilliant
performance tonight when we needed a victory."
The cohost had fantastic support from its fans, who were all decked
out in the team's official colors in the stands, cheering every single
play of their heroes and gasping on dangerous scoring chances by their
opponents. Among the crowd of 66,108 was Japan Prime Minister Junichiro
Koizumi.
The home fans couldn't sit back in the first half as both Japan and
Russia traded hard marking. Troussier had expected a tough battle against
the Russians, saying "They would come in to the game without feeling
any pressures after winning three points from their previous game."
Russia beat Tunisia 2-0 on Wednesday.
Playing in the nice cool breeze of a summer night, the Russians looked
more comfortable than in their previous outing which was in the heat
and humidity in Kobe. Russia annoyed Japan throughout the match.
Russia, playing in the World Cup finals for the first time since 1994,
frustrated the Japanese players with one-on-one marking in the first
half.
The Russian four-man backline, controled by veteran center-back Viktor
Onopko, had been described as "aging and slow" by its local critics.
They may be, but they were good enough to reach the ball one step earlier
than their oppnents to clear it out of the area and, at the same time,
trigger their attack. Bordeaux midfielder Alexei Smertin, who started
the game after coming back from an injury, harassed Japan midfielder
Hidetoshi Nakata in the first half.
The Russians were without playmaker Alexander Mostovoi. The Celta Vigo
midfielder remained on the bench with an injury suffered on May 19 against
Yugoslavia in a four-nation tournament back home. Nevertheless, the
team from north Europe created some problems for the Japanese side with
its short-passing game paced by Valery Karpin.
Forward Ruslan Pimenov dashed into the box while trying to connect to
a through ball from Titov in the 32nd minute. But Japan goalkeeper Seigo
Narazaki, who played a steady game and made some good saves, came out
for the clearance. Eight minutes later, Andrei Solomatin got a ball
from Titov and broke the right flank to cut into the box for a return
pass. But Shimizu S-Pulse midfielder Kazuyuki Toda came in right on
time to kick the ball out of the area.
While Japan was displaying a die-hard defense, the home team appeared
to break the scoreless deadlock in the 30th minute. Koji Nakata sent
a cross in from the left, which was punched out by Russia goalkeeper
Ruslan Nigmatullin. Forward Takayuki Suzuki got the clearance and laid
the ball back to Hidetoshi Nakata. But the Parma midfielder's middle-range
blast sailed over the bar.
After finishing the first half 0-0, one goal fueled up Japan's attack,
just like it did in the Belgium game.
In 51st minute, Koji Nakata sent in a long feed from the left side and
his Kashima Antlers teammate and forward Atsushi Yanagisawa passed the
ball on to Inamoto. The former Gamba Osaka boy controlled the ball well
with his right foot to lob it over the head of Nigmatullin for the winner.
